Responsibilities
Assist with Program Development: Help in the planning and development of fitness programs or initiatives designed to serve the community or target population. This could involve researching best practices, creating program materials, and assisting in program evaluation. Participant Engagement: Interact with program participants, clients, or members to provide information, support, and assistance. This might include answering inquiries, helping with registrations, and ensuring a positive experience.
Event Coordination: Assist in organizing fitness events, workshops, or fundraisers. This may involve coordinating logistics, setting up venues, and helping with event promotion.
Marketing and Promotion: Assist with marketing efforts to attract participants or donors. This could include social media management, content creation, and designing promotional materials.
Data Collection and Analysis: Help gather and analyze data related to program outcomes, participant feedback, or donor contributions. Proficiency in data collection tools and software like Excel or survey tools may be necessary.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support such as managing schedules, filing documents, and handling phone calls and emails.
Fitness Instruction: Depending on your qualifications and the organization's needs, you might assist with leading fitness classes, workshops, or personal training sessions.
Health Education: Assist in providing health and fitness education to program participants. This could involve creating educational materials or leading informational sessions.
Fundraising and Grant Writing: If the nonprofit relies on donations and grants, you might help with fundraising efforts, which could include researching potential funding sources, writing grant applications, and organizing fundraising events.
Community Outreach: Engage with the local community to promote the nonprofit's fitness programs and build partnerships with other organizations, schools, or community groups.
Volunteer Coordination: If the organization relies on volunteers, you might help recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various tasks.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that fitness programs and activities adhere to safety standards and legal requirements. This may involve maintaining documentation, safety protocols, and waivers.
Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets and financial records related to the fitness programs or events.
Program Evaluation: Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of fitness programs and suggesting improvements based on feedback and data analysis. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records and prepare reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges
Qualifications
Passion for Fitness and Wellness: A genuine interest in fitness and wellness is crucial. You should have a passion for promoting a healthy lifestyle and an understanding of the importance of fitness in overall well-being.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. You'll need to interact with program participants, colleagues, and potentially donors or sponsors.
Organizational Skills: The ability to plan and organize events, programs, and schedules is important. Nonprofits often rely on interns to assist with logistics and coordination.
Teamwork: Being a team player is important in a nonprofit environment. You'll likely work closely with other staff members, volunteers, and possibly external partners.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in basic computer applications like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with fitness tracking software or apps can be helpful.
Social Media and Marketing: Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing can be valuable for promoting fitness programs and events.
Data Analysis: Basic data analysis skills, including the ability to use tools like Excel to analyze program outcomes and participant data, can be an asset.
Adaptability: Nonprofit organizations often face changing circumstances and limited resources. Being adaptable and able to handle a variety of tasks is important.
Time, Place & Commitment
Hours are flexible; Monday - Thursday 10 AM - 6 PM as needed
6 - 12 month internship depending on needs of Foundation
