DRMI is seeking caring and reliable Youth Mentor & Wellness Support Volunteers to assist with our Geeks & Gramps Program—an intergenerational initiative that connects youth (ages 8–18) with older adults through technology, life skills, and meaningful relationship-building.
This role includes supporting youth in making healthy choices, building confidence, and staying engaged in a structured, positive environment while helping facilitate connections across generations.
Program Commitment
- 8-week program cycles
- Weekly sessions (approximately 1.5–2 hours)
- Flexible participation based on availability
Key Responsibilities
- Support youth during interactive workshops and activities (technology, life skills, wellness)
- Encourage positive behavior, accountability, and engagement
- Assist with building intergenerational relationships between youth and older adults
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming environment
- Provide encouragement and mentorship to youth participants
- Support program staff with session coordination and flow
Qualifications
- Enjoy working with youth (ages 8–18) and older adults
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, dependable, and able to connect with diverse populations
- Interest in mentorship, youth development, or community service
- Ability to support group settings and maintain appropriate boundaries
Requirements
- Must pass a background check (required for working with youth)
- Attend a brief program orientation/training
