New! Forest Walks with the Goats

Spend time with the goats along the forest edge while they browse, wander, and investigate whatever seems important in the woods that day. This is a quieter volunteer shift and a nice fit for people who enjoy nature, slower-paced farm time, and the company of goats who are technically on a walk but still very much making their own decisions. Bring a book if you like, enjoy the fresh air, and help keep an eye on the herd while they enjoy an outing.

What You’ll Be Doing
This shift focuses on walking and hanging out with the goats at the forest edge while they browse and enjoy a change of scenery. Volunteers help keep an eye on the herd, make sure everyone stays together, and enjoy some peaceful outdoor time with the goats. At the end of the shift, volunteers help refill water buckets as the goats settle back into the pasture.

Court-Mandated Service
We are approved for court-mandated community service hours and provide signed verification of completed time for the court or your legal representative.

Important Info
Bring a refillable water bottle and wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting dirty.

This shift is best for volunteers who are comfortable outdoors and able to stay attentive even during quieter moments.

Volunteers under 13 years old must have a parent remain on the property during the shift.

Attendance Policy: Please Read Carefully
The goats rely on this shift to get their walk and time out at the forest edge and there are limited slots for volunteers. If someone signs up and does not show, that outing may not happen. If you do not show up without proper notice, you will not be able to volunteer here again. Cancel at least 12 hours in advance if you cannot attend.

For court-mandated volunteers: we report attendance to the courts, and a no-show will be reflected in your record accordingly.

We appreciate volunteers who are dependable and ready to help. This is a peaceful shift, a favorite for many people, and a great chance to spend time with goats in a beautiful setting while still doing something important for the farm.
