Coming up on August 19th, Leon County's Volunteer Managers and Coordinators will meet at Big Bend Hospice to discuss the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence with presenter, Dr. Rizza.

Dr. Rizza is a dynamic and resourceful teaching professional with a strong commitment to students' cognitive and social growth. She is actively involved in all areas of education, including curriculum development and promoting 21st‑century skills for both teachers and students. Her passion for education fuels her ability to motivate and inspire, creating engaging, fun, and challenging learning environments.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a practical tool that is changing the way we work, communicate, and serve our communities. During Leon County's upcoming Volunteer Managers and Coordinators Meet-up, Dr. Rizza will address moments from early pop culture such as "Warning Will Robinson" and "The Terminator"  to today's rapidly evolving AI technologies. Her engaging presentation will examine common myths surrounding AI, helping those who engage with volunteers better understand AI's abilities and limitations.

Participants will also learn how to use AI safely and responsibly, including important do's and don'ts for protecting privacy. Several practical ways AI can support volunteer engagement is by simplifying everyday tasks such as writing emails, creating social media posts, brainstorming event ideas, summarizing documents, and organizing information. Attendees will leave with a curated list of AI resources and practical tips they can apply to make volunteering more efficient, effective, and impactful.
