The Volunteer Managers Meet-up brought together coordinators from various organizations, some included Volunteer Florida, Big Bend Hospice, Leon County LeRoy Collins Public Library and Capital Area Healthy Start, to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore new strategies for engaging volunteers.

Spring Home Expo

Spring Home Expo Mark at the UF/IFAS Leon County Extension was a success! The Leon County 2026 Spring Home Expo was held on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Volunteer Appreciation Month

During April, in particular the 19th through the 25th, the Leon County Volunteer Department celebrates Volunteer Appreciation Month. Our county wants to recognize all of the individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and compassion to strengthen our communities. Volunteers are the backbone of many of the programs and initiatives and without you we would not be able to continue to host, so we thank you for your service!

This gathering is designed to bring together volunteer engagement professionals to share best practices, collaborate on common challenges, and strengthen our network.

Leon County 2025 Summer Youth Training Program

The Summer Youth Training Program is a 5-week program offered to students between the ages of 14-24. The program beginnings with a weeklong orientation with CareerSource where participants have the opportunity to earn certification(s) in work skills. This week with CareerSource also covers basic soft skills and workplace etiquette. This summer youth program helps young people gain work field experience allowing them to contribute to their community while exploring potential career paths before committing to a career. They are able to see what they are capable of through experiential learning and observing long-term employees.
