Who We Are

Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend is the only community-based organization providing quality, comprehensive services and shaping futures of at-risk families with children ages 0-3 and pregnant women in Jefferson, Leon & Madison counties, Florida.

Founded in 1972 by the late Budd Bell, a community volunteer with a master's in social work, Budd recognized the need for affordable, high quality early learning programs for families with young children. Our name and our services have evolved over the years, but one constant remains: to best serve a child, we must serve the family.

What We Do

Today, Kids Incorporated provides education, health, and family services through five Early Head Start Centers in Leon, Madison, and Jefferson Counties.

Our centers provide early learning to children ages 0-3, using research-based curriculum, school readiness goals, and family engagement requirements to shape the lives of children at the most crucial stage of their lives.

We have a large volunteer corps and are always looking to bring more on board! Our volunteer opportunities are robust and flexible, accommodating one-time, short-term, and long-term commitments.

  • Volunteers serve in the centers, providing helping hands to teachers and engaging with the children.
  • Volunteers serve at our main office as administrative assistants. We also have opportunities for student interns.
  • We seek volunteers for our annual outreach and fundraising events, such as Kidsfest at Cascades Park, Thanks for Reading, and Holiday Happiness.

Check out our volunteer page for more detailed information on our volunteer roles. 12+!
