Title

Volunteer Program Assistant - Adult Literacy Program

     

Objectives 

The Library Volunteer Program Assistant will uphold the mission of the library by providing support to staff and patrons in the Adult Education & English as a Second Language (ESL) program. 

Responsibilities

  • Greet Tutors, students, and the public.
  • Guide tutors and learners to appropriate study room or classroom.
  • Assist tutors as needed with resources.
  • Take messages as necessary or send to voice mail.
  • Answer patron questions about Adult Literacy program.
  • Data entry.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated and able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Skilled in communicating courteously and efficiently with diverse people.
  • Must be detail oriented and capable of working independently
  • Proficiency in using common office applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Must be able to learn library policies and procedures.
  • Dependable and accountable 
  • Flexibility to react to unforeseen events 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach overhead.
  • Approachable and empathetic demeanor.

Commitment

Minimum of two hours per week for 3 months, exact day and time is flexible.
All volunteer activities will take place ate the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Public Library
