Leon County invites the community to participate in its annual Arbor Day Tree Planting event in honor of Florida’s Arbor Day on Saturday, January 20, at Lake Henrietta Park. Although National Arbor Day falls in April, we celebrate Arbor Day in January because winter is the best time to plant trees in Florida. This event supports and strengthens habitats for the hundreds of native and migratory species that call Leon County home, while also contributing to the beautification of the community and the overall improvement of the environment.
Participants should bring their own water, if able. While a limited quantity of gloves and shovels will be available at the event, attendees are encouraged to bring their own shovels and gloves for optimal participation. Snacks and coffee will be provided and the event will run from 8 a.m. until the last tree is planted.
