Title:
Tutor: Adult Education and English as a Second Language (ESL)
Major Objectives:
Tutors work with learners to improve their reading, math, and workplace skills. They also help learners prepare for the GED or other tests.
The ESL program helps newcomers from around the world learn English, prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam, improve workplace skills, and learn about American culture. Tutors do not need to know a foreign language to be an ESL tutor.
Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
- Participate in a tutor training workshop
- Tutor adult learners in small groups or one-to-one once per week for one to two hours
- Become familiar with and promote library resources to learners
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Volunteers should be friendly and patient, courteous, able to work with diverse populations; pleasant and supportive of others.

Time and Place:
Multiple schedules

Commitment:
Minimum commitment: 3 Month commitment - providing at least one tutoring session weekly
