Southside Day of Service

OVERVIEW
This Southside Day of Service is the third in a series of events supported by Tallahassee City
Commissioner Elaine W. Bryant in an effort to continue her meaningful support and service to the
community, distribute COVID protective masks and reinforce awareness of early voting. The goal
of this service project is to collaborate with an existing effort to expand reach and maximize
response and benefit to the community.
GOALS
- Distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to 500 Southside residents and connect to available;
- Create a service opportunity to connect with the Southside community and to spread awareness of early voting opportunities.
EVENT VOLUNTEER CAPACITY/NEEDS (day of):
In order to ensure proper personnel to ensure safety of distribution, the following volunteer levels are recommended:
- Pop-Up Pancake Breakfast: No more than 7 Volunteers to manage distribution;
- Fresh Food Distribution: We recommend 6-8 Volunteers to assist with high traffic loads associated with volume of distribution.
EVENT SPECIFICATIONS
ALL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS WILL BE EXECUTED ACCORDING TO COVID AWARE AND PROTECTIVE PROCESSES:
- Appropriate social distancing for teams/volunteers;
- All Team Leaders and Volunteers MUST wear appropriate face masks, nylon or latex gloves;
- All areas will have access to hand sanitizer and on-site hand washing station(s);
- All recipients will be required to remain in their vehicles; walk ups will be handled on a case-by-case basis by assigned volunteers and assisted in grabbing their food and going home.
***We will have access to the church’s fellowship hall for restroom and kitchen-related needs.
