We are excited to launch a new 4‑H Film Club and are seeking two committed adult volunteers to help guide a team of teenagers through an exciting year‑long filmmaking project. During the 2026–2027 program year, youth will produce a video story that will become part of the Smithsonian 4‑Histories collection, preserving local voices and community history for a national audience.
Volunteer Role Overview:
Film Club Volunteers will support youth as they learn the full filmmaking process, from story development and interviewing to filming, editing, and final production. Volunteers do not need to be industry experts; we’re looking for adults who are patient, creative, organized, and excited to help young people build media literacy and storytelling skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Support youth in planning and creating a short film for Smithsonian 4‑Histories
Guide teens in basic video production skills (storyboarding, filming, editing)
Encourage teamwork, creativity, and positive youth development
Help coordinate meeting logistics and project timelines
Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment
Time Commitment:
2–4 hours per month, plus additional time during project milestones if available.
If you enjoy storytelling, digital media, or working with creative youth, this is a unique chance to help teens create something meaningful and lasting.
