Project Year: 2026–2027
We are seeking two enthusiastic adult volunteers to help lead our new 4‑H Teen Cooking Club, a hybrid program that builds real‑world kitchen skills, nutrition knowledge, and confidence in young people.
This club will partner with the Florida 4‑H Virtual Cooking Club, which will introduce and reinforce core topics such as kitchen safety, food handling, nutrition, and healthy living. Local, in‑person meetings will function as hands‑on kitchen skill labs, where teens will practice the technique they learned virtually and prepare a recipe that uses that skill.
Volunteer Role Overview:
Cooking Club Volunteers will support youth as they build foundational culinary skills and understand the science, safety, and nutrition behind cooking. Volunteers do not have to be chefs — we’re looking for adults who are comfortable in the kitchen, enjoy working with teens, and believe in hands‑on learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teens during monthly in‑person kitchen labs
- Help youth practice safe knife skills, basic food prep, and cooking techniques
- Reinforce safety and nutrition topics introduced by the Florida 4‑H Virtual Club
- Model teamwork, responsibility, and positive youth development
- Assist with planning recipes, managing supplies, and maintaining a safe environment
Time Commitment:
2–4 hours per month, plus optional support during special cooking sessions or events.
The hybrid format allows families flexibility and strengthens learning — the virtual club builds foundational knowledge, while the in‑person sessions bring those skills to life. Volunteers play a key role in making this a fun, safe, and empowering experience for teens.
