Title:
Office of Resource Stewardship Pre-Storm Preparedness Intern
Major Objectives:
The Office of Resource Stewardship is responsible for maintaining County facilities, which includes ensuring preparedness for emergency events.
The intern’s role will support the department by capturing pre-storm condition photos of facilities using the ArcGIS Damage Assessment Tool app developed by the County’s GIS and Operations Teams. These photos will provide a baseline for evaluating facility conditions after storms and assist in preparing reports for FEMA and other emergency management requirements. The intern will help ensure that all facility assets are documented and properly cataloged in the GIS system for future reference.
Responsibilities:
"• Capture pre-storm photos of County facilities at mapped locations using the ArcGIS Damage Assessment Tool app.
• Document multiple angles of each facility and all relevant assets to establish a comprehensive baseline photo set.
• Travel extensively to County facility sites as required.
• Ensure all collected photos are accurately uploaded and accessible in the GIS application for emergency reporting purposes.
• Work independently while adhering to project deadlines and department priorities."
Qualifications:
"• Strong technical skills and familiarity with GIS or mapping applications.
• Experience in photography and photo documentation, with attention to detail.
• Proficient with smartphones/tablets and mobile applications for field data collection.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent travel to County facilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills."
Time and Place:
• Flexible schedule, minimum 10 hours a week and maximum 25 hours a week (Monday through Friday).
• Minimum shift duration of 3 consecutive hours.
• Work will primarily take place at various County facilities, requiring travel across the County.
Commitment:
Minimum 3-month commitment.
