Who We Are

As the state history museum, the Museum of Florida History focuses on artifacts and eras unique to Florida's development and the roles that Floridians have played in national and global events. Through exhibits, educational programs, research, and collections, the Museum reflects the ways in which people have shaped and reacted to their natural and cultural environments.

The Museum has several opportunities for people who would like to support our mission and programs and who have different skills and interests to offer. We welcome volunteers who will make a sustained commitment of at least four hours per week per annual quarter (72 hours). We require interested individuals to participate in a mandatory training process, to be willing to have a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check, and to regard their involvement as a serious personal, public, and professional commitment. We also ask volunteers to commit to a regular schedule. As representatives of the Florida Department of State, they are expected to be courteous, and respectful of all visitors, to dress appropriately, and to behave professionally.

 

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

What We Do

The Museum of Florida History (MFH) collects, preserves, exhibits, and interprets evidence of past and present cultures in Florida, and promotes knowledge and appreciation of this heritage.
