Who We Are
Junior Achievement (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success.
Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s oldest and largest non-profit organization giving students K- 12th grades the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.
JA programs are delivered by corporate and community volunteers who provide relevant, hands-on experiences. Junior Achievement reaches more than 4 million students across the United States each year. Locally, Junior Achievement Big Bend has reached over 30,000 students in the Leon County area and will reach 3,100 students in numerous area schools, including over 1,200 high school students during 2019-20.
What We Do
Inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy
Volunteers are the heart of Junior Achievement (JA), bringing financial literacy education to our youth and focusing on three key content areas: entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness. All JA programs emphasize the importance and benefits of post-secondary and vocational educations, work experience, and sound financial decisions. JA programs highlight how these experiences will continue to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become productive citizens and workers.
Junior Achievement Big Bend provides the volunteers, materials, scheduling, and training necessary to deliver world-class financial literacy programs to Kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Program duration varies on grade level and the frequency of programs is customized to each class schedule.
