The Learning Pavilion

The Learning Pavilion, formerly known as The Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services, is a smart-play preschool that is dedicated to providing inclusive, high-quality early childhood education for families who live, work, or attend school in the greater Tallahassee Region. Parents and guardians of children with special needs want safe, reliable, high- quality services so that they can work or attend school while getting their child the early interventions they need. Educational and nurturing interactions with trusted adults, developmentally- appropriate programs, and consistent opportunities to develop socially and emotionally are essential for these children to start their school experience. With these needs addressed the community benefits in a number of ways: decreased need to remediation at school, the development and stability of the work force as well as the development of curious, secure children who are enthusiastic learners and productive citizens.

Mission: To improve the quality of life and acceptance of children with special needs and their families. Our purpose is to gather resources and support families, minimize the effects of disability through early intervention, increase independence and support participation in life.

Vision: There will be a high quality of life for the children with special needs of the greater Tallahassee community because of the excellence of TLP. Children will be cared for in a joyful, nurturing, stimulating learning environment. Parents/guardians will have confidence in the safe, clean, reliable setting and in the professionalism and compassion of the staff. Enjoying a position of leadership in early childhood intervention, TLP will work with community organizations, businesses and schools to influence
