On December 6th, 1935, the "HARD" Alpha Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on Florida A&M University's campus (then Florida A&M College), and was the first chapter to be chartered in the state of Florida. The chapter was chartered by 3 distinguished men of Sigma; one of our most honorable founders Leonard F. Morse, our 10th national president Richard A. Billings, and world renowned scientist George Washington Carver. For the past 75+ years, Alpha Eta has been striving to uplift the community by focusing on the inclusive we rather than the exclusive we, and by exemplifying the high ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.
