Join the Board for Girls on the Run of the Big Bend!
Description:
One girl put it this way, "I learned that I am the boss of my brain." This program is about helping girls take charge of their lives. You can also think of it as Can University — a place where girls learn that they can. No limits. No constraints. Only opportunities to be remarkable. That is Girls on the Run of the Big Bend.
The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about leading a fulfilling life with important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect. The program also creatively integrates running, as the girls train for a celebratory 5K that takes place at the end of the program. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and to harness the inner strength that they possess. GOTR-BB is currently in five local elementary schools, but the program seeks to expand across the Big Bend to bring this valuable program to even more girls in our area. Requirements: A Girls on the Run of the Big Bend board member must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities for girls in third through eighth grades. Board members serve two-year terms and should regularly attend board meetings. Board members should also make a serious commitment to participate actively in the Board's work. Subcommittees include Program/Girl Engagement, Celebratory 5K, and Fundraising. Board members are also expected to make an annual contribution of $250 each. As GOTR-BB grows, representation of the diversity of our community is highly valued. Type: Ongoing Board Service Opportunity Web site: http://www.gotrbigbend.org/ Tags: none Skills: Communications/Marketing, Social Media, Fundraising, Strategic Planning, Relationship Building, Event Planning, Accounting/Finance, Volunteer Management/Coordination, Policy Development, Diversity Agency: Girls on the Run of the Big Bend

Volunteer: Girls on the Run Big Bend CoachBe a coach! Change a girls life.
Girls on the Run is a national non-profit that provides an experience based curriculum to girls ages 8-13 that encourages them to be confident, joyful, and healthy while also creatively incorporating running (non-competitively).
Teams meet twice a week for 1.5hrs, for 10 weeks, and seasons culminate with an end of season 5k that is truly something spectacular. The girls walk away with lessons and confidence to last a lifetime, and you walk away knowing that you played a HUGE role.
Most sites start around 3:00pm and end around 4:30pm.
*Males CAN coach as well! We love seeing that interaction and support from the men in our community, helping to build strong and confident girls.
Required Training: TBA for Fall Season
Now Accepting Inquiries for the Fall 2018 Season!
