Volunteer: Volunteer Reading Mentors
By volunteering just 2-4 hours a week, you can teach a child to read. As a YMCA READS! mentor, you will work with a small group of Kindergarten through Fourth grade students under the supervision of the Site Coordinator. Training is provided!
YMCA READS! is a literacy and mentoring after school program that runs Monday through Thursday from 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM at Riley Elementary and Ruediger Elementary. We are looking for volunteers that can commit to 2-4 hours a week to help make a difference in the lives of our youth.
By becoming a YMCA READS! mentor, you will be able to:
-help children develop positive self esteem -provide structured reading intervention instruction -promote literacy and increased academic performance -become a positive role model for children
