Volunteer: Administrative Volunteer

The mission of 2-1-1 Big Bend is to provide assessment, emotional support, crisis assistance, education, training, and referrals with accurate, up-to-date resource information. 2-1-1 Big Bend operates Helpline 2-1-1, the Florida HIV/AIDS Hotline and the Family Health Line.  In addition, the agency answers the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and other organizations that contract with 2-1-1 Big Bend for hotline services.  Program Volunteers help us meet this mission by assisting with public relations, special events, administrative tasks, data entry, information and referral, and other projects as delegated. Additionally, program volunteers will attend outreach events, solicit volunteers, and advertise employment opportunities. This position is seen as an ambassador for 211 and its mission. It is directly responsible to the Coordinator of Volunteers.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Successful Administrative Volunteers possess the motivation to help people, a non-judgmental attitude, strong communication skills, and basic computer competency. Program volunteers must attend agency trainings and be knowledgeable of 211 Big Bend, its programs, mission and impact. Having an automobile is not required, but highly recommended for transportation purposes.

Primary Job Responsibilities – Administrative Program Volunteers

 

Goal:              Perform Filing, Copying, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Administrative Assignments

 

Objectives: A. Maintain Volunteer Files

B. Input data in Excel Spreadsheets as Needed

C. Update listings on the online Information Database

D. Assist with other projects as needed

 

Primary Job Responsibilities – Public Relations/ Marketing Volunteers

 

Goal:              Assist in promoting agency services and events in the eight-county service area

 

Objectives: A. Contact media outlets and volunteer agencies to insure coverage of agency news items

B. Assist in outreach efforts related to volunteer recruitment drives by distributing posters and leaflets to campuses and the greater Tallahassee area

C.  Assist with graphic design

D.  Assist with other projects as needed

 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities – Special Event Volunteers

 

Goal 1: Assist in coordination of events

 

Objectives: A. Promote event attendance to agency volunteers and staff

B. Attend events

C. Solicit donations from local businesses

D. Produce event-related materials (i.e. invitations, program)

E. Publicize event to the greater Tallahassee area

F. Assist with event decorations and set-up

G. Assist with other projects as needed

 

Primary Job Responsibilities – Speaker's Bureau

 

Goal: Assist in promoting community awareness and recruitment of volunteers

 

Objectives: Solicit opportunities and present to universities, churches, groups, and volunteer placement programs and service fairs. 

Contact agencies to offer presentations/request opportunity to speak with groups to promote recruitment Design presentations Track and report presentations Assist in outreach efforts related to volunteer recruitment/community awareness drives by distributing posters and tabling at events Assist with other projects as needed
