The program also creatively integrates running, as the girls train for a celebratory 5K that takes place at the end of the program. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and to harness the inner strength that they possess. GOTR-BB is currently in five local elementary schools, but the program seeks to expand across the Big Bend to bring this valuable program to even more girls in our area. Requirements: A Girls on the Run of the Big Bend board member must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities for girls in third through eighth grades. Board members serve two-year terms and should regularly attend board meetings. Board members should also make a serious commitment to participate actively in the Board's work.
