Title
Volunteer Program Assistant - Book Displays Adult Reference
Objectives
The Volunteer Program Assistant-Reference will uphold the mission of the library by providing support to staff and patrons in the Adult Services department as a reference and programming assistant to relieve library staff of some pressure during periods of high foot traffic and workload.
Responsibilities
- Support library staff by:
Locating and pulling library materials from a display list
Assisting with installation of book displays as needed
Refilling book displays as materials are checked out
Taking down book displays as needed
Re-shelving library materials
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Should be:
- Aged 16 years or older
Self-motivated, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
Skilled in communicating courteously and efficiently with diverse groups of people
Detail-oriented and capable of independent work
Dependable, accountable, and patient
Flexible and solutions-oriented when encountering the unexpected
Able to alphabetize and otherwise sort library materials
Able to bend, stoop, and reach to shelve materials
Able to push a cart weighing upwards of 25lbs
Commitment
All volunteer activities will take place at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Public Library location.Shifts should occur during library operating hours, which are Mondays-Thursdays: 10AM-9PM, Fridays: 10AM-6PM, Saturdays: 10AM-5PM, Sundays: 1PM-6PM.
All positions require a minimum 3 month time commitment.
