Title
Volunteer Program Assistant - Adult Reference
Objectives
The Volunteer Program Assistant-Reference will uphold the mission of the library by providing support to staff and patrons in the Adult Services department as a reference and programming assistant to relieve library staff of some pressure during periods of high foot traffic and workload.
Responsibilities
- Greet the public
- Support adult reference services by:
- Directing library users to various divisions and services
- Distribute selected printed materials regarding library policy and programs
- Assisting patrons with basic digital literacy skills as needed
- Assisting patrons with resources as needed
- Support adult services programs by:
- Preparing program materials as needed
- Assisting library staff with program setup and breakdown as needed
- Directing program attendees to designated sitting area
- Counting program attendees and recording the number on a stutus sheet when needed G
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Should be:
- Self motivated, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Skilled in communicating courteously and efficiently with diverse groups of people
- Detail-oriented and capable of independent work
- Dependable, accountable, and patient
- Flexible and solutions-oriented when encountering the unexpected
- Able to complete basic tasks on different kinds of technological devices (i.e. printing documents, logging in, etc.)
Commitment
All volunteer activities will take place at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Public Library location.Monday - Thursday 10am-8pm
