The Knott House Museum will be presenting Stage Door (1938) in the courtyard at 6:30 p.m. on March 11, 2016. This comedy is set in a 1930s boarding house for actresses hoping to gain fame on the stage and screen. Perfect for Women’s History Month, the film highlights changing attitudes about romance, divorce, and women’s independence.
It stars Katherine Hepburn, Ginger Rodgers, and a young Lucille Ball, and was nominated for four Academy Awards. Dr. Jen Koslow from the Florida State University history department will talk about shifting attitudes toward women in the 1930s. The $5 admission fee for guests includes popcorn.
Volunteers are needed from 5:30p.m. to 9:00p.m. to prepare popcorn, sell tickets and refreshments, greet and usher guests, and assist with clean up.
Please join us for a rollicking good time!
Note: Volunteers CANNOT have been convicted of, or pled no contest, or been found guilty of a crime that is a felony or misdemeanor, or seek court-ordered community service hours at the Museum as we cannot provide a volunteer opportunity in that case.
Minors can volunteer if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
