Do you have a background or strong interest in media relations or fundraising? If so, consider assisting our communications and development teams in promoting Red Cross services. Communications opportunities include serving as a public affairs representative, photojournalist, and social media ambassador. Development opportunities include grant writing, event coordination, project management and donor acknowledgment activities. Make it financially possible for the Red Cross to deliver its lifesaving services.

Each year, the Red Cross responds to an average of more than 60,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. So we set a goal to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25%.

On average:

The Logistics team is looking for volunteers that are available at least one day for a few hours each week during office hours to assist with a variety of needs in the warehouse. As a logistics volunteer, you can be trained to drive the forklift, transport supplies, and inventory maintenance.

Before a disaster begins, the Red Cross Preparedness Teams work to educate and prepare our local communities to be educated, have proper supplies and identify resources in the local community that will help and support their families in times of Disaster. They work with your family or household members, discuss how to prepare and respond to the types of emergencies that are most likely to happen where you live, learn, work and play. They do this by attending events and distributing information, speaking to the community, or even going into homes to install smoke alarms for free.

Assist with volunteer recruitment, placement, record keeping and recognition. Represent the Red Cross in your community at fairs, festivals, and other special events. Educate the public about our lifesaving work and share ways individuals can get involved. Volunteer schedulers help to ensure that we have volunteers where and when we need them. Be part of the behind-the-scenes Red Cross team by volunteering in our offices. Hone skills to build your resume or keep skills fresh as you contribute to vital projects.

Service to the Armed Forces Volunteer. The Red Cross helps members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with, and respond to the challenges of military service. Includes casework and/or working with the local VA Clinic.

Nurses have been vital to the work of the American Red Cross since 1888. Today, more than 20,000 of your fellow nurses and other health/mental health professionals are involved in providing disaster relief, teaching and developing courses, managing blood drives and other leadership roles throughout our organization.

Assist with anything that deals with organizing an event. Activities may be: auction item runner, office calling, set up, clean up, etc. Assist in writing and research of potential gran opportunities available to the Red Cross. Support fundraising and special events.

Provide food, shelter, comfort and care for families affected by major disasters such as fire, hurricanes and tornadoes.

Our Receptionist Teams assist with administrative work in the office, answer phones, greet clients and much more. Our facilities/fleet department utilizes volunteers in a variety of roles, from groups who assist with vehicle cleaning to individuals who help with front desk service or fix-it projects around the building.

When the immediate emergency is over, the healing can begin. Our recovery volunteers will help Red Cross Clients' start the process of recovery process by assisting with a family’s physical, emotional and financial well being.
