Role Overview Peoples Health International is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grant & Proposal Writer to support our fundraising and organizational growth efforts. This volunteer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities and developing compelling grant proposals that help secure financial support for PHI's programs and initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer with excellent research skills who is passionate about making a meaningful impact through nonprofit work. Whether you are an experienced grant writer or looking to build your skills, this role offers valuable hands-on experience with guidance and mentorship from our leadership team.
Key Responsibilities Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and letters of inquiry Tailor proposals to align with funder priorities and PHI's mission, programs, and strategic goals Collaborate with leadership to gather program information, budgets, and supporting documentation Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission timelines Maintain organized records of grant applications, funding prospects, and outcomes Review grant guidelines to ensure compliance with application requirements Assist with drafting impact statements, organizational narratives, and other fundraising materials Participate in virtual meetings with staff and volunteers as needed Help strengthen PHI's long-term fundraising strategy through grant development and proposal planning
Qualifications Excellent written communication and editing skills Strong research, analytical, and organizational abilities Ability to write clear, persuasive, and professional proposals Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, public health, or community service Experience with grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, or technical writing is preferred but not required
