The SPEAR Project is a 100% veteran operated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Created in December 2018 in response to Hurricane Michael, our mission is to provide direct search and rescue services to victims of hurricanes. SPEAR utilizes veterans and first responders and provides a unique asset to disaster response services by arriving before landfall, sheltering in the track of the eye, and providing rescue services to those most in peril immediately after the storm passes.

 

The SPEAR Project is growing quickly and is developing multiple programs and initiatives in order to best accomplish our mission. With this growth comes the need for good, reliable people to help.

 

Duties:

Answer phones and greet visitors

Schedule appointments and maintain calendars

Schedule and coordinate staff and other meetings

Collate and distribute mail

Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports and other correspondence

Write and edit documents from letters to reports and instructional documents

Create and maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical

Manage accounts and perform bookkeeping

Skills and Abilities:

Decision-making: Must be able to make independent decisions on a daily basis, addressing the best way to handle specific tasks.

Communications and collaboration: Must be able collaborate with other administrators and support personnel, management and clients on a regular basis.

Organizational skills: Must know how to keep yourself and others organized and how to determine which tasks are the most important in a given list.

Writing: Spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and writing are essential. Must be proficient in a variety of styles, from creative to professional to technical to education and more.

This is an unpaid position, but perfect for those who need volunteer hours, an internship in the nonprofit sector, or who just want to help out. The workload will be light but rewarding. Take your chance to get on board with us as we strive to save lives.
