Volunteer at the Farm: Lend a Hand, Learn Something New, Meet the Goats

Looking to earn community service hours or spend time in a peaceful, hands-on environment? Join us for a general volunteer shift and help support the daily work that keeps our farm running. Whether you're here for the goats, the fresh air, or just to give back, we’re glad to have you.

What You'll Be Doing
This shift includes a variety of important farm tasks, depending on the day. You might help clean barns, groom goats, assist with repairs, tidy up outdoor areas, or take on other projects that keep the farm healthy and running smoothly. It’s real work, but think of it as a free outdoor gym with goats.

Volunteer Hours

Shift is 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM

If severe weather shortens your shift while you're already on-site, we’ll still credit you for the full time

Court-Mandated Service
We are approved for court-mandated community service hours and are happy to provide documentation or signed verification of your completed time for the court or your legal representative. Just let us know at the start of your shift that you need proof of hours. Upon completion of your hours, send us an email and we will return your documentation.

Group Sign-Ups
We’ve paused team sign-ups because group bookings were taking all available spots and sometimes not showing up. If you’re coming with a group, you’re still welcome, just leave a note with the total number in your group.

Need to Cancel?
Please cancel your shift at least 24 hours in advance. We truly rely on our volunteers to help keep the farm running. If you do not show up and have not canceled, we will remove any remaining shifts from the system and you will not be able to volunteer here again.

We’d Love to Have You
This is a fun, welcoming place to volunteer, and your time makes a real difference. Come ready to work, learn something new, and maybe make a few goat friends along the way.

Spend your shift helping care for our baby goats in the nursery and maternity area. This volunteer opportunity focuses on both daily care and socialization, which means plenty of brushing, grooming, and time spent with the kids, along with the cleaning and feeding tasks that keep the space healthy and comfortable.

What You’ll Be Doing
Volunteers help clean and refill water buckets, fill hay feeders, sweep the nursery, and clean pens. A big part of this shift also involves helping socialize the babies through gentle handling and snuggling, which is honestly one of the best jobs on the farm.

As the kids get older, they may spend part of the day out in the pasture. Once the nursery is cleaned, volunteers may also help refill water and spend time socializing the babies in the larger pasture area.

Important Info
Because we rely heavily on nursery volunteers and space is limited, please only sign up if you are sure you can attend. No-shows make it much harder for us to care for the animals well. You also will not be able to sign up for future shifts if you no show. 

Please avoid wearing perfume or other strong fragrances.

Need extra hours? This shift is longer than our normal morning chores. 

If severe weather shortens your shift after you’ve arrived and checked in or we finish early, we will still credit you for the full scheduled time.

Court-Mandated Service

We are approved for court-mandated community service hours and provide signed verification of completed time for the court or your legal representative.

Attendance Policy: Please Read Carefully

We rely heavily on volunteers to complete essential farm work. When someone does not show up, animals still need care and other volunteers must carry the extra load.

Cancel at least 18 hours in advance if you cannot attend.

Last-minute cancellations count as no-shows.

If you do not show up without proper notice, we will remove any remaining shifts from your account and you will not be able to volunteer here again.

For court-mandated volunteers: we report attendance to the courts, and a no-show will be reflected in your record accordingly.

Evening Chores at the Farm: Unwind with Goats and Give Back

Looking for a peaceful way to end your day while making a real difference? Our evening shift is a great opportunity to support the farm, spend time with animals, and enjoy some quiet, purposeful work as the sun goes down.

Whether you're earning community service hours or just want to lend a hand, this is a rewarding and enjoyable way to get involved.

What You'll Be Doing
Evening chores help wrap up the day on the farm. Tasks typically include:

Filling water buckets and hay feeders

Light sweeping of the barn area

Brushing and socializing the goats

It’s a calm, simple routine and a great way to decompress while making a difference. Think of it as a little goat-powered therapy session with a purpose.

If you need additional hours, let us know and you can arrive earlier or stay a bit longer to help with extended tasks

We are approved for court-mandated community service and can provide proof of hours for the courts. Please let us know when you arrive if you’ll need documentation.

Evening chores are a special time on the farm. It’s quieter, the goats are winding down, and the work is relaxed but meaningful. Come ready to help, connect, and enjoy the peace that comes with a well-fed, brushed goat.

Spend time with the goats along the forest edge while they browse, wander, and investigate whatever seems important in the woods that day. This is a quieter volunteer shift and a nice fit for people who enjoy nature, slower-paced farm time, and the company of goats who are technically on a walk but still very much making their own decisions. Bring a book if you like, enjoy the fresh air, and help keep an eye on the herd while they enjoy an outing.

What You’ll Be Doing
This shift focuses on walking and hanging out with the goats at the forest edge while they browse and enjoy a change of scenery. Volunteers help keep an eye on the herd, make sure everyone stays together, and enjoy some peaceful outdoor time with the goats. At the end of the shift, volunteers help refill water buckets as the goats settle back into the pasture.

We are approved for court-mandated community service hours and provide signed verification of completed time for the court or your legal representative.

This shift is best for volunteers who are comfortable outdoors and able to stay attentive even during quieter moments.

Volunteers under 13 years old must have a parent remain on the property during the shift.

The goats rely on this shift to get their walk and time out at the forest edge and there are limited slots for volunteers. If someone signs up and does not show, that outing may not happen. If you do not show up without proper notice, you will not be able to volunteer here again. Cancel at least 12 hours in advance if you cannot attend.

For court-mandated volunteers: we report attendance to the courts, and a no-show will be reflected in your record accordingly.

We appreciate volunteers who are dependable and ready to help. This is a peaceful shift, a favorite for many people, and a great chance to spend time with goats in a beautiful setting while still doing something important for the farm.

Volunteer with Our Dairy Goat Project: Support Youth, Community, and Goats

Are you passionate about youth development, agriculture, and community engagement? Our Dairy Goat Project is looking for dedicated volunteers to help guide and support young participants as they learn the ins and outs of goat care, showing, and responsibility.

This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of youth while also having a little fun on the farm.

What You'll Be Doing
Volunteers assist with a variety of roles, including:

Helping recruit youth participants by reaching out to local schools and community organizations

Assisting with on-farm activities such as training, chores, and showmanship practice

Supporting youth at the North Florida Fair Dairy Goat Show

Acting as a mentor, cheerleader, and extra set of hands as needed

You do not need any prior goat experience. All training is provided, and we’ll make sure you feel confident and prepared.

Schedule and Commitment

Flexible, hybrid hours (some tasks can be done remotely)

Must commit to approximately ten hours per month from March through November

Evening and weekend availability is helpful but not required

Requirements

A background check is required for this role

Volunteers must be reliable, communicative, and comfortable working with youth and animals

A positive attitude and willingness to learn go a long way
