The volunteer Assistant Monitor will help in the Computer Lab, Job Clubs, and Orientations. The volunteer will interact with the clients to help the office run proficiently. Specific Duties include: Answering phones, copying booklets and packets, maintain library, and monitor students.

Are you a stickler for organization? We can use your great skills as our Book Worm. You can help us maintain our inventory of children's books, and perform maintenance on the books as needed. This is a very important role, as literacy is one of our top priorities here at the Dick Howser Center.

Do you like to be the center of attention? Does reading aloud make a story a lot of fun? You should be one of our celebrity readers! A celebrity reader is someone who dedicates an hour of their time once a week or twice a month (curriculum permitting) to reading an age-appropriate story aloud. We will provide the books, just bring your voice and enthusiasm!

The volunteer Clerical Assistant will assist the Computer Lab Trainer with duties pertaining to Computer Lab and Job Club necessities. Specific duties include: assist students who need help working in the computer basics workbook, call and mail missing clients, employer phone contact, follow up with clients, clean and change message boards, create flyers and notices for lab, make copies of literature, check resource inventory list, use answer keys to grade skill assessment tests, and update resource listings.

The volunteer Computer Training Assistant will assist the Computer Trainer with duties pertaining to the Computer Training Lab and classes. Specific Duties Include: One on one tutoring with students, call potential employers to seek partnership, update computers, assist with answering phones, reorganize and re-log computer lab closet.

The volunteer Employment /Lab Assistant will assist in the Computer Lab and help the Employment Specialist with light clerical duties. The volunteer will interact with the clients to help the classes flow smoothly. Specific duties include: answering phones, prepare files, teaching workshops, monitor students, and contact and follow up with previous participants.

Community Clean Up

Are you proficient in computer skills, filing or answering phones? Use these skills and more as an office assistant. In this position, you can have the opportunity to help understand the inner working of our non-profit daycare. Help us maintain all of our documents, publicity kits and with the greeting of our parents.

The volunteer Placement Services Assistant will assist the Placement Service Director with Job Clubs, Orientations and light clerical duties. Specific duties include: answering phones, return calls and set up appointments, call and remind participants about attendance, assist with applications, update job boards and books, and follow up with resources.

It is always helpful to have an extra pair of eyes in our playgrounds. You won't get a special 'monitor sash', but you will receive the opportunity to help make a difference during a child's favorite time, playtime!

The volunteer Receptionist will answer phones, greet incoming clients, direct clients to appropriate services, assist clients in finding specific resources, process employment applications, schedule client orientations, fax documents, copy documents, shred papers, fold brochures, etc.

It is no secret that cleanliness is very important here at the Dick Howser Center, and as one of the top sanitation agents, you will help to maintain our high standards. As a sanitation agent, you will coordinate with our teachers on the sanitation of the variety of toys we have in our center.

As a teacher's assistant, you will provide assistance and supervisory help in the classroom. Have a great time engaging and interacting with children in their activities, and you will often have the chance to interact with the children during routine activities such as arts and crafts, singing and games. Be visibly involved with the teacher and demonstrate values such as: caring, honest, respectful and responsible. A teacher's assistant is so important to our overall mission because they serve as a nurturing extension of our wonderful teachers.
