It’s the 38th Annual running of the Capital City Kiwanis Club Firecracker 5K Race and 1-Mile Sparkler Run at Cascades Park in downtown Tallahassee, Florida on July 4th, 2021. The Virtual Kiwanis Club of the Big Bend has joined forces with Capital City Kiwanis Club to bring you the 5k and 1-mile Fun Run.
Each year the Firecracker 5k raises funds to support the many projects and programs of Kiwanis Club which support children and their families including:
Roadside Clean-up, scholarships, Ramp Builds, Florida Disabled Outdoors Association at Miracle Field, Meals on Wheels, Feed the Hungry, Kid's Voting, Diaper Drives, TMH Pediatric Toy Donations, Big Bend Hospice, Eliminate Project: Neonatal Tetanus Vaccinations, Tales for Tots, Turn-About, Guardian Ad Litem, Honor Flight, Ralph Davis Kiwanis House at FSU and FAMU, Soldier Care Packages, Service Leadership Programs, Free Helmets for Children and many more.
Pre-Race Day Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to stuff bags for the runners before packet pick-ups begin on July 1st. We will be meeting in the back room of The 4th Quarter Bar and Grille (2030 N. Monroe Street) at 6 PM on Wednesday June 30th. This activity will take about 2 hours.
Race Day Volunteers
4 AM volunteers will be required to be more physically active and able to assist in unloading and set-up of equipment, tents, tables, cones, etc.
Volunteers will then be assigned tasks such as registration, start/finish line, water tables, course guides or hospitality table service. After the race, assistance will be needed with organizing and packing up equipment. All volunteers should be finished by 10 - 10:30 AM.

Volunteer Orientation
Thursday evening there will be a volunteer orientation for all volunteers working on Race Day. Volunteers will meet at 7pm at Cascades Park at the Korean War Memorial. Plan to be there for one hour where you will be assigned your race day tasks, recieve your volunteer

All day volunteers willing to participate in a variety activities are welcome! All volunteers who need it can recieve credit for volunteering. Please bring forms to Rose Ledbetter or Alice Niera to sign off.
Volunteers aged 13-15 years-old are welcome with a parent or guardian.
Volunteers aged 16-18 years-old are welcome with signed parental permission.
Adult volunteers of all abilities welcome!
