This event, which is one of our biggest events of the year, commemorates the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation with a reading, local dignitaries, performers and re-enactors. There will be music, interactive activities, and free lunch in Lewis Park.
The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the Knott House is open for tours from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Festival events recognize the emancipation of enslaved person in Tallahassee and take place throughout the month of May. All activities are free unless a charge is noted. For event dates and details, see the online map at http://bit.ly/2018EmancipationDayTLH.
