Who We Are

We are a nonprofit whose aim is to help community members see, love, and join those in the margins. It’s been over ten years now and we’ve grown in our understanding of how all forms of poverty are connected. Out of a desire to respond to the suffering we’ve witnessed, we give you the opportunity to write, feed, heal, welcome, free, and clothe your neighbor, through our domestic and international. programs.

What We Do

In Tallahassee we have two local programs, Feed Your Neighbor and Write Your Neighbor. Feed Your Neighbor: Every week, in solidarity, we get up earlier than the day-laborers to make breakfast and head over to the local labor pool and lay down a table cloth, put out freshly picked flowers from a friend’s garden, and begin our feast together. The menu varies each week based on what is donated/purchased but is usually comprised of homemade bread with honey butter, pastries donated from Panera, oranges, hard-boiled eggs collected from our hens, coffee, and orange juice. We typically serve 30 folks at the labor pool and send each person out with a bag of leftovers for the day and extra bread for their families. Write Your Neighbor: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the elderly population to quarantine due to their vulnerabilities to the virus. The sustaining presence of friends and family have been told to distance thus leaving our older generation lonely and vulnerable to deteriorating mental health and acuity. We write and collect encouraging letters, drawings, photos and fun notes and distribute them to two nursing home facilities in Tallahassee, to brighten their day.In an abundance of caution, we are sanitizing the paper and quarantining all of the letters for one week after we’ve received them. Once we deliver your letter, our assisted living partners have their own extensive process for preventing any possible spread.
